The TM4 software applications support a number of microarray data file formats.
The primary format used by the latest versions of the TM4 software is the mev file format. This is the type of file generated by Spotfinder and MADAM. Mev-formatted files can also be created from other format types as noted below. This format replaces the older, tav file format, described here. Tav-formatted data files can be converted to the new mev format using the ExpressConverter.
Other applications' data file formats are also supported by the TM4 Software Suite. These formats, while they can not usually be loaded natively into MIDAS or MeV, can be converted to mev-format using the ExpressConverter. These supported formats include Genepix, ImaGene, ScanArray, ArrayVersion and Agilent files. Affymetrix data files cannot be converted with the ExpressConverter, but can be loaded directly into TIGR MeV. Directions for how to do so are found here.
